After announcing his intention to activate the Starlink satellite network to restore internet to Iran following Tehranโs move to cut off connectivity amidst protests, Elon Muskโs web service is reportedly now active - but requires terminals on the ground.
Global think tank professor Karim Sadjapour tweeted Sunday he had received confirmation from Musk of Starlinkโs activation, but he believes it will cost โmany millionsโ of dollars to set up and sustain the web service, and doesnโt expect the government to green-light the import of terminals.
Iran has seen days of protests after the alleged killing of a women in morality police custody. Authorities deny those accusations.
