The potential negotiations should take into account โ€œnewly emerged circumstances,โ€ the top diplomat said, citing the Russian president

Russian President Vladimir Putin is considering resuming talks with Ukraine, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Monday. The top diplomat made the remarks during a press conference in Tokyo where heโ€™s attending the funeral of former prime minister, Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated in July.

According to Cavusoglu, Putin floated the idea during a conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the recent summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Samarkand, Uzbekista...

Hungary should prepare for a prolonged conflict in Ukraine, says PM

Sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russia over its military offensive in Ukraine have โ€œbackfired,โ€ according to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who pointed out that skyrocketing energy prices in Europe were the result of the restrictions.

Speaking to parliament on Monday, the Hungarian leader warned that people should prepare for a โ€œprolonged warโ€ in Ukraine. He also stated that the EUโ€™s response to the conflict was the reason governments across Europe have started falling, referring to Sundayโ€™s elections in Italy where right-wing candidates were expecte...

Japan Urges Caution Against Yen Speculation

Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki indicated Monday that Tokyo was prepared to intervene further if โ€œrapid and one-sidedโ€ speculative market moves continue, just days after Japan sold some USD reserves to buy up yen.

Bank of Japan Governor Heruhiko Kuroda appeared to soften his previous stance on maintaining low interest rates for two to three years, telling business executives Monday the BoJ also wouldnโ€™t hesitate to act if risks appeared.

The USD gained 0.54% to 144.175 yen on Monday, just short of last Thursday's 24-year peak of 145.90.

From Exodus to Marvel: The Israelification of Hollywood
MintPress News (RSS)

The introduction of an Israeli Mossad agent as the latest Marvel movie character crosses the line, even by Hollywoodโ€™s poor moral standards. However, the Israeli superhero, Sabra, must be understood within the rational progression of the Israelification of Hollywood, a phenomenon that is surprisingly new.

Sabra is a relatively old character, dating back to a Marvel comic, the Incredible Hulk, in 1980. On September 10, however, it was announced that the Israeli character will be included in an upcoming Marvel film, โ€˜...

PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY (Scheerpost) โ€” Energy and food bills are soaring. Under the onslaught of inflation and prolonged wage stagnation, wages are in free fall. Billions of dollars are diverted by Western nations at a time of economic crisis and staggering income inequality to fund a proxy war in Ukraine. The liberal class, terrified by the rise of neo-fascism and demagogues such as Donald Trump, have thrown in their lot with discredited and reviled establishment politicians who slavishly do the bidding of the war industry, oligarchs and corporations.

The bankruptcy of the liberal class means that those who decry the folly of permanent war and NATO expansion, mercena...

Failing to Count the Arabs: the Myth of the โ€œDemocraticโ€ Jewish State
MintPress News (RSS)

Israel wants the world to believe that it is a majority Jewish state with a 20% Arab minority and that the Arab population enjoys a good standard of living and full equal rights. And while this is easy to disprove, it is still part of the mainstream discourse on Israel.

It is true that at around two million people, the Palestinian citizens of Israel represent about twenty-one percent of Israeli citizens. However, Israel counts its Jewish citizens regardless of where they reside throughout the country โ€“ including the West Bank and East Jerusalem โ€“ and all Jewish Israelis are citizens. In contrast, Palestinians are only counted as citizens in certain parts of the country so that the government can...
