Nepal offers to trade in national currencies with Russia

Moscow and Kathmandu could create a mechanism for mutual settlements in the national currencies, Nepal’s ambassador to Russia, Milan Raj Tuladhar, has told RIA Novosti.

“It would be a barter trade based on our own currencies, without involving others. It should be a banking cooperation between the central banks of Nepal and Russia,” Tuladhar said.

He believes it is possible to create a mechanism similar to the one between Moscow and New Delhi that uses the rupee and ruble in trade.

UN made Russia sanctions promise –
Lavrov

The UN has assured Moscow that steps are being taken to lift restrictions blocking Russian grain exports, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters at a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on Saturday.

“In the part of the July 22 agreements that concern Russian grain, the UN Secretary General pledged to persuade the EU and the US to remove these obstacles,” Lavrov said.

“I met with him the day before yesterday, and he confirmed that there’s still much work ahead to be done… but some promises are being made in that regard,” Lavrov said, adding that “everything is in the hands of the hegemons, who are trying to put responsibility on us.”

Cristiano Ronaldo had an evening to forget in Prague on Saturday after he was left bloodied and bruised by a collision and failed to get on the scoresheet in Portugal’s 4-0 UEFA Nations League win over the Czech Republic.

Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters has denied media reports that he had canceled two concerts in Krakow, Poland. He accused the local authorities of censoring him over his criticism of Western involvement in the Ukraine conflict.

He went on to confirm, however, that a councilor in the city of Krakow, Lukasz Wantuch, put forward a motion to declare Waters persona non grata. According to the musician, this is “because of my public efforts to encourage all involved in the disastrous war in Ukraine… to work towards a negotiated peace.”
