Italians are going to the polls to cast their ballots for members of parliament in a snap election on Sunday, with conservative parties favored to make the biggest gains.

The election was called when Prime Minister Mario Draghi resigned in July after three right-wing parties – the League, Five Star Movement (M5S), and Forza Italia (Forward Italy) – withdrew their support for his unity government.

The coalition, which was formed in February 2021, broke down due to disagreements over Covid-19 recovery plans and programs to tackle inflation and rising energy prices.

Israel sells air defense system to Arab country – media

Israel has sold its Surface-to-air Python and Derby (SPYDER) air defense system to the United Arab Emirates, Reuters reported, citing two sources familiar with the deal.

A third source claimed Abu Dhabi had also purchased Israeli anti-drone technology.

Manufactured by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the SPYDER is a short-to-medium range air defense system that can use Python-5 and Derby missiles with ranges of 20 and 50km, respectively.

Ukraine conflict fails to make list of top concerns for US voters – poll

The Russia-Ukraine conflict and other stories played up by major US media outlets have apparently failed to strike a nerve with many Americans.

Many are far more concerned about issues like violent crime and inflation heading into midterm congressional elections in November, a leading polling firm has revealed.

The Ukraine crisis, in particular, has been shrugged off by many voters, failing to rank among the top dozen issues and being cited as “very important” by only one in five Americans.
