Senior gardai have launched a high-level review into a security breach in which the Taoiseach was confronted by a protester while sitting in a State car.
The Irish Mirror can reveal the incident happened in the early hours of July 15 outside the Convention Centre, where the Dail is sitting due to Covid-19.
Micheal Martin was in the back seat of the State car, a 192 Lexus, outside the building afterwards when a woman pulled open the door and confronted him.
However, we have learned up to 20 hours in advance of the incident, gardai at local level at a city centre station were warned of a possible disturbance to the Taoiseach being planned by protesters.
It is understood that it was also mooted the protesters had wanted to pull him from the car.
But the woman who made the security breach only shouted at the Fianna Fail leader ...
