Bolton Reacts to Alleged Assassination Plot

Former US National Security Advisor John Bolton said on Thursday that he was โ€œembarrassedโ€ by a low-price tag that had allegedly been put on his head, as part of a would-be plot to assassinate him, planned by an Iranian national.

โ€œI would have thought it would have been higher,โ€ he admitted. โ€œBut I guess maybe it was the exchange rate problem or something,โ€ Bolton told CNNโ€™s Wolf Blitzer.

On Wednesday, The US Justice Department announced criminal charges against Shahram Poursafi, a member of Iranโ€™s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, for allegedly orchestrating an assassination attempt against Bolton, a long-time anti-Iran hawk.

The department said that Poursafi attempted to pay someone $300,000 to murder Bolton on US soil.

Sales of Chinese Smartphones Surge in Russia โ€“ media

Chinese brands now make up the majority of Russiaโ€™s smartphone market, having pushed out the worldโ€™s top sellers Apple and Samsung. (Kommersant)

According to the report, Xiaomi sold the most smartphones in Russia last month, with its share - together with the Poco sub-brand - reaching 42%. Realme held 17% of Russia's smartphone market.

Data showed that sales of the American and Korean brands in Russia have decreased by almost 90% since the introduction of Western sanctions. Sales could fall to 10% by the end of the year if parallel imports do not gain momentum, distributors predict.

World reacts to Salman Rushdie stabbing
RT World News (RSS)

Amid Western condemnation, conservative Iranian outlets called the author โ€œSatanโ€ and an โ€œapostateโ€

Western authors and officials have strongly condemned the attack on the Indian-born British-American novelist Salman Rushdie, who was stabbed in New York state on Friday. Iranian media and officials, however, reacted by recalling the reasons that prompted the Islamic Republicโ€™s former leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, to issue a religious edict calling for the writer's death back in 1989.

French President Emmanuel blasted the authorโ€™s stabbing as a...
