Firefighters rescued a man who became stuck underground in central Rome while digging a tunnel, the Italian capital’s Fire Brigade said in a statement on Friday. The media says he was part of a gang seeking to rob a nearby bank.

“After eight hours of work, the fire brigade extracted, still alive, the man who was trapped due to a collapse which happened during the execution of an underground excavation in Via Innocenzo XI. The causes are being investigated,” the Fire Brigade said in a statement.

Germany Limits Public Buildings Heating to 19c amid Energy Crisis

German economy minister Robert Habeck has announced new regulations to save energy Friday - amid fears of shortages, as a result of a stand-off with Russia.

Public buildings will only be allowed to be heated to a maximum of 19 degrees Celsius, buildings and monuments will no longer be illuminated at night and advertising installations will not be illuminated, Habeck told SZ newspaper.

"More savings are also needed in the world of work," he added, without giving further details. An initial period of six months is planned for the cost-saving measures
