Chinese leader could hold an in-person meeting with his US counterpart in Southeast Asia in November, sources tell WSJ

Officials in Beijing are making preparations for a face-to-face meeting between Chinaโ€™s leader Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden in Southeast Asia in November, the Wall Street Journal reports citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to them, the meeting between the two leaders โ€“ their first in-person encounter since Bidenโ€™s inauguration in January 2021 โ€“ could take place on the sidelines of either the Group of 20 summit to be held on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15 and 16, or the Asia-Pacific Eco...

Authorities in biggest US city urge vaccination after finding virus traces in sewage system

New York City and state health officials on Friday urged residents who havenโ€™t been vaccinated against polio to do so, after the virus that causes the paralytic disease was detected in the largest US cityโ€™s sewage samples. The discovery comes just weeks after a confirmed case in a nearby county.

The finding suggests โ€œlikely local circulation of the virus.โ€ Sewage samples from Rockland and Orange counties north of New York City also showed the presence of polio last month, followed by the discovery of the first domestic US polio infection since 1979...

โ€ŠAll Our Systems Are Built to Elevate Viciousness
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

By Caitlin JOHNSTONE

Thereโ€™s a scene in The Usual Suspects where Kevin Spacey tells the fable of the mysterious Keyser Soze and how he became a crime lord.

โ€œOne story the guys told me, the story I believe, was from his days in Turkey,โ€ he says. โ€œThere was a gang of Hungarians that wanted their own mob. They realized that to be in power, you didnโ€™t need guns or money or even numbers. You just needed the will to do what the other guy wouldnโ€™t.โ€

Spaceyโ€™s character describes the way the Hungarians came after Soze and his family to take over his drug dealing business, but the viciousness with which they did so was no match for the viciousness they are met with.

โ€œThen he showed these men of will what will really was,โ€ Spacey says, describing the way Soze kills his own family and then wipes out the families and friends of the entire Hungarian gang.

And whatโ€™s funny is if you carefully watch the way power moves in the world, you will see that this is pretty much how it works. The most vicious among us are elevated to the top, because all our systems are built in a way which elevates viciousness.

The US empire is able to dominate the world exactly because it has โ€œthe will to do what the other guy wouldnโ€™t.โ€ Whenever I lay out my evidence that the US is the most tyrannical regime on earth, Iโ€™ll get someone conceding that this is true but arguing that the US only behaves that way because it is the most powerful. Any other government with the power of the United States would behave with the same amount of viciousness or worse, they argue.

And I always tell them that theyโ€™ve got it exactly backwards. The US isnโ€™t uniquely vicious because it is the worldโ€™s most powerful government, the US is the worldโ€™s most powerful government because it is uniquely vicious.

The United States put an exclamation point at the end of the second world war by dropping two nuclear bombs on Japan, not because it needed to (it didnโ€™t), but because it wanted to intimidate the Soviet Union. It then immediately launched into a succession of new wars and strategic operations of astonishing viciousness with the goal of eventually becoming the global dominator. It achieved this at the fall of the USSR, after which it immediately instituted a policy of working to ensure that no rival superpowers ever develop and began working toward โ€œfull spectrum dominanceโ€ of the land, sea, air, and space. All of the major international conflicts of our day are the direct result of these policies.

None of the people driving the imperial power structure which rules over us are in their positions because of their wisdom or kindness. Oligarchs get to the top of their corporate and financial ladders by being willing to step on whoever they need to step on to get ahead....

โ€ŠNATO-Backed Kiev Regime Resorts to Nuclear Terrorism
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

A simple, urgent test beckons: stop the military attacks on Zaporozhye. Now, who is objecting?

Europeโ€™s biggest nuclear power plant is under repeated missile attacks by the NATO-backed Kiev regime. Let that appalling fact sink in for a moment. Can anything more criminal and reckless at this time be imagined?

Bear in mind that the very governments (regimes really) responsible for this abysmal situation are the same ones who proclaim โ€œrules-based orderโ€ and โ€œliberal democracyโ€. Evidently, their rhetoric is just a sick facade for totalitarianism and lawlessness.

What is going on is nuclear terrorism by the Nazi-infested Kiev regime and its Western sponsors. The missiles hitting the Zaporozhye nuclear plant (ZNPP) are supplied by the United States and its NATO allies. The power station has been under sustained artillery or drone attack since last week. A fire at the installation has already been reported although the Russian military and the Ukrainian civilian operators at the Zaporozhye plant managed to put the blaze out. The ZNPP is reckoned to contain hundreds of tonnes of enriched uranium and other spent nuclear fuel. Situated on the mighty Dnieper River in southeast Ukraine that flows into the Black Sea, if the ZNPP is fatally hit the damage would be catastrophic for Europe and the rest of the world. The resulting radioactive contamination would far exceed that of Chernobyl or the Fukushima disaster. The world is on the brink of a deliberately orchestrated cataclysm.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN international nuclear supervising agency, the IAEA, have both condemned the attacks on Zaporozhye as โ€œsuicidalโ€. They have appealed for demilitarization of the area. The UN is being cowardly in its restraint by not specifically condemning the NATO-weaponized Kiev regime. The UN is hiding behind cynical claims that there are โ€œconflicting reportsโ€ of who is to blame for the shelling of the nuclear plant.

The United States and its Kiev proxy are blaming Russia for the military strikes. Displaying twisted logic, they say Russia is carrying out the attacks in order to smear the Ukrainian regime. They also claim that Russia is using the plant as a cover for its military forces.

Russian forces commandeered the Zaporozhye NPP in early March, days after they invaded Ukraine on February 24. Russiaโ€™s military operation was compelled by the relentless build-up of NATOโ€™s offensive threat in neighboring Ukraine since the CIA coup dโ€™รฉtat in 2014. Securing the ZNPP was a top priority given the criminal recklessness of the NATO-backed Kiev regime. Now the United States and its Kiev catspaw are absurdly making out that Russia is hitting its own forces and territory under its control, including the vitally important ZNPP.

The trajectory of missiles fired on the ZNPP clearly shows that the attacks are coming from the territory under the control of the Ukrainian forces and its NATO accomplices. The rational suspicion is that the long-range multiple-launch rocket systems supplied and overseen by the U.S., Britain and Germany are involved.

Washington and its NATO allies are calling on Russia to relinquish control of the nuclear plant and give it back to the Kiev regime.

That preposterous demand exposes who the nuclear terrorists are. The United States and its NATO axis are responsible for holding Europe and the world hostage with the threat of nuclear catastrophe.

We should note that anything claimed by the Kiev regime and its Western handlers, including the entire news media acting as propaganda outlets, cannot be taken remotely seriously. This week, the Kiev...

UK Annual Energy Bills Set to Soar Above ยฃ5K

The average annual energy bill in Britain is expected to surge above ยฃ5,000 in 2023, according to the latest forecast issued by the UK independent energy consultancy Auxilione.

The rising UK energy price cap, an officially set reference point, would mean that average households are likely to spend some ยฃ571 on energy every month.

The UK-based consultancy expects Ofgem to set the price cap at โ€œjust over ยฃ3,600โ€ when it announces the results of its next review on August 26. That rise would take effect in October before the cap is expected to exceed ยฃ5,000 in the first half of 2023, the analysts added.

While the UK is not directly dependent on Russian gas, it is still suffering from mounting energy prices and surging living costs.

Two Baltic Nations Reduce China Ties

Latvia and Estonia have withdrawn from the 16+1 cooperation group between China and eastern, central European countries.

The 16+1 format has been around since 2012 to promote joint infrastructure and development projects between Beijing and the European states.

The withdrawal comes amid a spike in tensions over Taiwan provoked by the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi earlier this month.

The US State Dept spox welcomed the decision, โ€œWe respect and support Estonia and Latviaโ€™s sovereign decision to no longer participate in the 16+1 initiative,โ€ adding that strengthening ties with partners in Europe was a โ€œpillar of this US administrationโ€™s approachโ€ to Beijing.

Westโ€™s Threats to African Countries Over Russian Oil Might Spark New Sanctions Against Moscow
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

The West got itself into this mess being wildly out of touch and delusional, with regards to its own so-called hegemony.

The emergence of Russia, China and India as emboldened new powers amid the Ukraine war is becoming more obvious each day. The West has really destroyed its last strand of credibility as the real power in a unipolar world, which, in reality is now multipolar with the East gaining and gaining.

Russia continues to garner more strength and influence seemingly without effort due to the colossal error of NATO and EU sanctions which continue to punish the citizens of those countries so much more than any Russian citizen โ€“ the most recent news just in that Spain is banning the use of air conditioning in parts of the country experiencing a heat wave!

And Russia acts more and more like a superpower on the world stage and so we shouldnโ€™t be surprised, for example, that when only a matter of weeks of French troops pulling out of Mali a former colony of Franceโ€™s, Russia rolls in with aircraft which it donates to the regime. Thatโ€™s what superpowers do to keep their end of the bargain. Security support.

Yet the more the West whines and the more Putin gains influence with the Global South โ€“ which has stated clearly that it doesnโ€™t want any part in the war in Ukraine โ€“ the more it looks like the loser. How else do you interpret the threat from a U.S. envoy who recently warned African countries against buying oil from Russia, which, they claimed, would result in punitive measures.

This is a lucid example of how the West got itself into this mess in the first place: being wildly out of touch and delusional, with regards to its own so-called hegemony. Does the U.S. really have the right โ€“ even legally โ€“ to impose secondary sanctions on African countries? And does it not realise that even if those countries, comply it will only be as a token. In other words, they will still find a surreptitious way to buy the oil via third parties. If the Biden administration could not sustain the secondary sanctions that Trump imposed on South Korea, India, China, Japan and Turkey who were buying oil from Iran, then how does it imagine it will enforce this on poor countries in the Global South, without losing them altogether as partners?

Of course, itโ€™s already happening with the example of Mali, in Africa. And if the secondary sanctions threat is carried out then we can be certain that other countries in the region โ€“ especially former French colonies โ€“ will want to come over to Russia as a superpower which can assist them in development and sustainability as well as security. America has made a huge mistake in this threat and it is only a matter of time before Burkina Faso, Benin, Niger, Chad and others follow Mali.

Just recently, we saw the opening of the port of Odessa which the West fails to acknowledge as a move by Putin, following many leaders in Africa and the Middle East appealed to him to allow the ships to leave laden with wheat โ€“ a commodity in many of these countries which is part of a social program to provide subsidised bread for the poor. Removed, the lack of cheap bread could be the source of insurrection, growth of terror groups and new immigration flows to Europe and Zelensky would have no doubt wanted this to occur to throw the media spotlight more on the war, which the West is growing tired of on all levels. Putin decided not to give him the ace he wanted and allowed the port to operate and it will be Russia which will reap what it sows with those countries which receive the wheat.

But the question Moscow is asking now is, whi...

8 Officers of Color Awarded $1.5 Million in Settlement after Being Barred from Guarding George Floydโ€™s Killer

The correction officers of color will receive almost $1.5mn as a settlement for racial discrimination, after being barred from guarding Derek Chauvin, the policeman found guilty of murdering George Floyd.

In May 2020 Steve Lydon, then-Superintendent of the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center, issued an order that banned corrections officers of color from entering the floor where Chauvin was being held.

Despite the order being rescinded about an hour later, several officers filed charges of discrimination.
