Europe in Drought: No Drinking Water in France
100 municipalities across the republic have no access to water safe to drink - and trucks must supply it from other towns. โThereโs nothing left in the pipes,โ said Ecological Transition Minister Christophe Bechu.
The drought comes amid wildfires, evacuations, and heat-related deaths as temperatures reach a sizzling 40C. The shortage is also having devastating impacts elsewhere, with farmers reporting production plummeting in soy, sunflower and corn.
The French govt describe the drought as โthe worst ever recordedโ as the Loire - the longest river in the country - dries up, allowing tourists to cross it to a nearby castle.

Classified documents about nuclear weapons were among sensitive materials that the FBI was looking for when it raided the residence of former US President Donald Trump this week, the Washington Post reported Thursday, citing sources.
According to experts interviewed by the outlet, the FBI raid on Trumpโs Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on Monday indicates that the current administration is worried about the impact on US national security if these documents get into the wrong hands.
However, the Postโs sources refused to reveal whether the material in question related to nuclear weapons belonging to the US or some other state. They also declined to say whether the FBI had found what it was looking for.

Germany could be facing mass unrest this autumn and protests over the energy crisis could be hijacked by extremists, a regional head of the countryโs domestic security agency has said.
Stephan Kramer, who heads the BfV in the state of Thuringia, said Germany must be prepared for the possibility that โlegitimateโ protests over energy and economic crises could be โinfiltrated by extremists.โ
โExtremistsโ who could hijack the protests include the so-called โlateral thinkersโ who rallied against coronavirus restrictions during the pandemic, and right-wing activists who have already been stirring the mood on social media in recent months, Kramer said.
