EUโ€™s Top Diplomat Explains Different Approach to Ukraine and Palestine - โ€˜Politics is About Applying Double Standardsโ€™

Josep Borrel has admitted that double standards permeate international relations, after being asked why Brussels was far more willing to support the people of Ukraine than the people of Gaza.

The Middle East conflict is not in the EUโ€™s hands, he said, pointing the finger at the US.

โ€œInternational politics is to a large degree about applying double standards. We do not use the same criteria for all problems,โ€ he told El Pais newspaper.

Earlier in the interview, Borrell had said that supporting Kiev against Moscow was a โ€œmoral imperativeโ€ for Western nations.

โ€œResolving the situation with those people trapped in an open-air prison, which Gaza is, is not in the hands of the EU,โ€ the diplomat said. He called the squalid living conditions in Gaza โ€œscandalou...

Facebook Fad Fading Out - Popularity โ€˜Falling Sharplyโ€™ Among Teens - Pew Research

The fall in use from 71% to 32% amongst 13-17-year-olds comes as Chinese rival TikTok sees engagement skyrocket to 67% - with 16% reporting โ€˜almost constantโ€™ use.

โ€œAlthough todayโ€™s teens do not use Facebook as extensively as teens in previous years, the platform still enjoys widespread usage among adultsโ€, the report states.

Another platform seeing popularity amongst young people is YouTube, with 75% reporting daily visits- while Twitter - readying to battle Tech mogul Elon Musk over number of fake users - also saw a decline.

The report makes bad reading for Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg - as the company reported its first ever revenue loss in June.

Telegram CEO Lashes Out at Apple and Google

Russian-born software entrepreneur Pavel Durov, who runs the company behind the popular messaging app Telegram, has slammed US tech giants for abusing their dominant market position.

โ€œOur upcoming update โ€“ which is about to revolutionize how people express themselves in messaging โ€“ has been stuck in Appleโ€™s โ€˜reviewโ€™ for two weeks, without explanation or any feedback provided by Apple,โ€ he complained on Telegram.

โ€œThis harm goes on top of the 30% tax Apple and Google take from app developers โ€“ which, according to them, is supposed to pay for the resources needed to review apps,โ€ the businessman added. โ€œThe regulators in the EU and elsewhere are slowly starting to look into these abusive practices.โ€

The review is supposed to allow the app store operator to check submitted code for any possible malware and confirm it is up to safety stan...
