Ukraine Should Have Been Encouraged to Become Neutral - German Opposition Leader

Alice Weidel, the head of Germanyโ€™s Alternative for Germany (AFD) party believes that when talking about the Ukrainian conflict, one has to keep in mind historical background and โ€œRussiaโ€™s justified security interests.โ€

โ€œThe incorporation of Ukraine and the plans to integrate Ukraine into NATO, as well as the EU, have for decades been something that the Russians would never accept" as it will make Ukraine an โ€œadversarial power in its backyard,โ€ the German politician clarified.

Weidel also emphasized that her party sees the current conflict in Ukraine as extremely dangerous, not least for Germany, which is not as far away from the battlefields as the US.
