Biden โ€˜Not Worriedโ€™ by China - Washington Scrambles to Clarify Latest Gaffe

As China moved exercises to โ€˜real war conditionsโ€™ - a move Taiwan sees as a direct menace โ€“ Biden soft-peddled the Chinese threat - prompting the WH to clarify the Presidentโ€™s words.

โ€œThey [China] are provocative, irresponsible, and raise the risk of miscalculation, thatโ€™s what the president was referring to,โ€ press sec. Karine Jean-Pierre later amended.

When questioned about whether House Speaker Nancy Pelsoiโ€™s visit was a โ€˜mistakeโ€™, the US leader stated, โ€œThat was her decisionโ€.

The comments follow a clarification by the WH last month when he said the trip was โ€˜a bad ideaโ€™. Beijing maintains the Biden admin could have stopped the trip.

Atomic Message / 2015
#Japan

When an atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, teenage postal worker, Sumiteru Taniguchi, was โ€˜luckyโ€™. He didnโ€™t die on the spot, but received terrible injuries to his back and left arm.

Sumiteru is a hibakusha, which is Japanese for an A-bomb survivor. Burns covered his entire back, forcing him to lie on his stomach for nearly two years. Sumiteru devoted the rest of his life to the anti-nuclear movement, showing his scars as a symbol of the horrors of war.

More than 70,000 people died in Nagasaki and about 140,000 died in Hiroshima. On August 6 and 9, it will be 77 years since the US dropped atomic bombs on these Japanese cities. Hear chilling accounts from Sumiteru Taniguchi and other hibakusha.
