Japan Wonโt Quit Russian Energy Project โ Minister
Japan will not be leaving the Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project in Russiaโs Far East because of its significance to the countryโs energy supply, Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Koichi Hagiuda has said. (Nikkei)
Earlier this month, Vladimir Putin signed in decree on transactions with shares in strategic companies for holders from โunfriendly statesโ - those that placed sanctions on Russia in connection with Ukraine.
Japanese energy company SODECO owns a 30% stake in Sakhalin-1. Earlier, Japan supported the US and the EU and put sanctions on Russia. However, Tokyo seems to be reluctant to jeopardize its energy supply.

The French Defense Ministry has banned Russian nationals from entering the medieval royal residence of Chateau de Vincennes, Agence France Presse (AFP) has learned. The castle east of Paris is the headquarters of the Defense Historical Service, the French ministryโs archive.
