Pfizer Spends Billions Buying Blood Disorder Drug Company
Pfizer has agreed to buy blood disorder drugmaker Global Blood Therapeutics for $5.4 billion, it was revealed Monday.
The move is seen as the infamous vaccine manufacturer trying to claim a stake in the rare disease drug market, according to CNBC.
Global Blood Therapeuticsโ Oxbryta was first approved in 2019 to treat sickle cell disease, an inherited blood disorder, which may cause severe pain and anemia, among other symptoms.
Shares of Global Blood rose 4.5% following the deal announcement.

World Peace Statue in Finland... Taken Down
The monument has been removed from its pedestal in Helsinki by local authorities on Monday. It was given to the Finnish capital as a gift by Moscow in 1989.
In spring this year, "World peace" was inscribed on its base with Ukrainian flags attached. The statue is owned by the Helsinki Art Museum and will now be transported to storage.

Finland has removed a peace monument, which was donated by Russia during late Soviet times, from its pedestal in Helsinki. The sculpture was deemed inappropriate after Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine in February.
The 6.5-meter (19.6-foot) bronze monument titled โWorld Peaceโ was taken down on Thursday, but due to its size and weight, it took the authorities several days to ferry it out of the city by barge.
