Taiwan: Artillery Drill Backfires
Days after China's Liberation Army started massive live-fire drills, the Taiwanese army also conducted their own in Lienchiang.
The exercises didn't exactly go to plan when a fire broke out on the outer Xiyin island. It was eventually extinguished as fears mounted of nearby residential areas.
It's not clear how the blaze started, with some reporting tracer fire or flares landing on hill.

Sumiteru is a hibakusha, which is Japanese for an A-bomb survivor. Burns covered his entire back, forcing him to lie on his stomach for nearly two years. Sumiteru devoted the rest of his life to the anti-nuclear movement, showing his scars as a symbol of the horrors of war.
More than 70,000 people died in Nagasaki and about 140,000 died in Hiroshima. On August 6 and 9, it will be 77 years since the US dropped atomic bombs on these Japanese cities. Hear chilling accounts from Sumiteru Taniguchi and other hibakusha.

President Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19 on Saturday, but โin an abundance of cautionโ will remain in strict isolation under daily monitoring until a second negative result confirms he has beaten his โreboundโ infection, according to White House physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor.
โThe President continues to feel very well,โ OโConnor wrote in his daily update on Biden's condition.
The US leader initially tested positive for Covid-19 on July 21, despite having been fully vaccinated and receiving two booster shots. He worked in isolation for five days, while experiencing a mild cough and body aches, before testing negative last week.
