South Africa Reports First Covid Vaccine Related Death

South Africa's health agency reported a link between the death of an individual and Johnson & Johnson's Covid vaccine on Thursday in the countryโ€™s first โ€œcasualโ€ link between the two

The person developed the rare neurological disorder Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) soon after being given the jab, and later died. J&J insisted GBS arise from Covid itself or other vaccines; last year the EMA added it as a possible side effect of AstraZenecaโ€™s vaccine.

About 46% of South Africaโ€™s 40mn population is fully vaccinated.

Germany Risks Facing โ€œWinter of Angerโ€ โ€“ media

Germanyโ€™s federal and regional governments are bracing for a potential wave of protests that might come this autumn or winter, German ARD and RBB broadcasters reported this week.

Chancellor Olaf Scholzโ€™s cabinet apparently fears that rising food and energy prices could lead to social unrest and be exploited by various โ€œradicalโ€ movements, the outlets add.

According to ARDโ€™s Tagesschau news service, some groups have already sought to organize protests in Berlin under the slogans โ€œRevolt,โ€ โ€œUprising,โ€ and โ€œCivil War.โ€
