Moscow Reacts to Amnesty Report on Ukrainian Use of โ€˜Human Shieldsโ€™

A report by Amnesty International accusing Ukraine of placing its military assets in residential areas only corroborates what Moscow has been saying throughout the conflict with Kiev, Russiaโ€™s FM spox Maria Zakharova has said.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been talking about this constantly, calling the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces the tactics of using civilians as a โ€˜human shield,โ€™โ€ Zakharova wrote on Telegram on Thursday.

The UK-based human rights group has issued a report which accuses the Ukrainian military of violating international law and risking civilian safety by placing troops and military vehicles in residential areas, including turning hospitals into de facto military bases.

Dead Pigsโ€™ Organs Partially Revived in US

Scientists managed to revive cells and restore some organ function in pigs that had been dead for more than an hour in a groundbreaking experiment which pumped .

In a report published in Nature magazine on Wednesday, a group of Yale scientists revealed that they restored blood circulation and cellular activity in the pig hearts and brains by pumping a custom-made solution into the dead animals.

The dead pigs started some involuntarily body movements, jerking their head, neck and torso after being injected with contrast dye that was meant to help scientists monitor brain activity. At the same time, while the system managed to defend some brain tissue from damage, there were no signs that the animals had regained any consciousness.

Kremlin Responds to German Turbine Accusation

Moscow has rejected claims made by Siemens Energy that Russian energy giant Gazprom was inventing pretexts for not accepting delivery of a crucial part for the Nord Stream pipeline and by doing so, is suppressing gas flow to the EU.

โ€œGazprom would really like to get the turbine. After all, it wasnโ€™t Gazprom that imposed the sanctions. But in this case, it is important for Gazprom to get legal documents stating that the turbine is not under sanctions. In this case, just words are absolutely not enough,โ€ Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

His comments come after Siemens Energy reportedly accused Gazprom of lying when it said that international sanctions were preventing the return of a turbine for the Nord Stream 1 pipeline from Germany to Russia.
