French Legislators to Approve €20 Billion Inflation Relief Package

French lawmakers will adopt new anti-inflation measures as well as an updated budget on Thursday that will pour funds into nationalizing power giant EDF.

The package, promised by president Emmanuel Macron, will feature €20bn to tackle inflation specifically, even though France’s 6.5% inflation is more than 2 points below the eurozone average.

Macron’s centrist party aims to increase some welfare payments by 4%, set a cap on rent increases at 3.5% and give a raise of 3.5% to public servants.
