Monkeypox “Scare-mongering” to “Abuse Power” - DeSantis
Governor Ron DeSantis has refused to declare an emergency over the Florida monkeypox outbreak and vowed not to “rile people up” while lambasting politicians for “trying to sow fear into the population”.
The Republican condemned Blue states for declaring emergencies and warned of ulterior motives for the measures. “They’re going to abuse those emergency powers to restrict your freedom. I guarantee you that’s what will happen”, he said on Wednesday.
His gubernatorial opponent Charlie Crist responded that Floridians need "better testing, and access to vaccines for prevention”.
