UK Parliament Ditches TikTok Over China Data Fears

British lawmakers have admitted defeat already on their TikTok experiment to engage with younger audiences, citing fears over the Chinese-owned platform’s data security.

“The account was an attempt to engage with younger audiences – who are not always active on our existing social media platforms – regarding the work of parliament,” read the statement announcing its removal.

The UKParliament account was only set up at the end of July without consulting the leaders of both houses with a cringeworthy post asking for selfie advice.
