Russia Destroys US-Made Rocket Systems In Ukraine

Four of the US-supplied HIMARS rocket artillery launchers and one of their support vehicles have been destroyed over the past three weeks of fighting in Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.

“High-precision strikes with land- and air-based missiles destroyed four HIMARS multiple rocket launch systems and one ammunition and reloading vehicle between July 5 and July 20,” General Igor Konashenkov said.

Earlier on Friday, the White House confirmed that four additional HIMARS launchers, 580 suicide drones and thousands of rounds of artillery ammunition would be sent to Ukraine as part of a $270 million “security assistance” package.

Ukrainian Intel Chief Peddles Putin Lookalike Theory

Russian President Vladimir Putin may have used a lookalike for his trip to Iran this week, the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence service (GUR) has suggested.

“Look, please, at the moment when the supposed Putin is leaving the plane. Is he Putin at all?” General Kirill Budanov said when asked to comment on Putin’s health during his recent trip to Iran.

Budanov did not elaborate, but Ukrainian media said he was referring to rumors that Putin occasionally uses lookalikes for public events.

Oil Exports From Middle East To Europe Surge - Bloomberg

Crude oil shipments from countries in the Middle East to Europe have soared by 90% since January, as the bloc snubs Russian oil due to sanctions, Bloomberg reported Friday.

According to the report, pumping volumes from the Middle East to Europe have so far nearly doubled compared to last year.

Bloomberg estimates that in the first three weeks of July, more than 1 million barrels a day were pumped through the Sumed pipeline via Egypt to Europe from the Middle East, mainly from Saudi Arabia. Another 1.2 million, mostly from Iraq, came via the Suez Canal.
