Europe Likely to Run Out of Gas in Fall-Winter Season - Hungary

Gergely Gulyas, the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's office, has told local media that Europe would most likely run out of gas in the fall-winter period.

"In recent days, it has become clear that with a high probability there will not be enough gas in Europe for the fall-winter heating season," the official said during a briefing.

Earlier Budapest had declared a national emergency in the energy sector, citing rising gas prices, which Gulyas said were linked to the European Unionโ€™s sanctions on Russia.

Greeceโ€™s Minister for Tourism Vasilis Kikilias offered shelter to elderly Germans tourists from the upcoming winter, inflation and energy crisis on Thursday.

Bild reported on Sunday that skyrocketing heating costs might see many Germans unable to pay their bills. The newspaper also warned that Germany might experience not just another price hike this winter but face an acute energy supply shortage if Russia stops its gas supplies.

Worsening Chaos: Israelโ€™s Political Instability is Now the Norm
MintPress News (RSS)

The collapse of the short-lived Israeli government of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid validates the argument that the political crisis in Israel was not entirely instigated and sustained by former Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Bennettโ€™s coalition government consisted of eight parties, welding together arguably one of the oddest coalitions in the tumultuous history of Israeli politics. The mishmash cabinet included far-right and right groups like Yamina, Yisrael Beiteinu, and New Hope, along with centrist Yesh Atid and Blue and Whit...
