Web 3.0 Doesn’t Need Blockchain Tech to be Decentralized - Berners-Lee

The father of the world wide web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, has criticized the path his brainchild has taken, but insists it doesn’t need to base 3.0 on blockchain technology.

He claims his “Project Solid” iteration will store data in decentralized pods which users can host wherever they like and choose which apps have access, while preventing voter manipulation and companies abusing data.

“When you try to build these things on the blockchain, it just doesn’t work,” he said recently.

EU Nation Warns of Gas Crisis DOMINO Effect (report)

The failure of one European country to fill storage facilities before November 1 could cause a domino effect and quickly spread throughout the EU, according to Dutch Climate and Energy Minister Rob Jetten.

“It’s good if some member states can fill their gas storages by November 1, but if other countries fail to reach 80% – particularly big countries like Germany – then this will be a domino effect for the whole of Europe,” Jetten told Politico.

Meanwhile, Jetten stressed that tapping the Groningen gas field, the continent’s major source of gas, would be the last option.

In 2019 it was announced that the gas field would be shuttered by October 2022 to limit seismic risks in the Groningen region with gas only to be extracted in the event of extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances.
