Ukrainian Refugees Face Mass Eviction in Netherlands

After being hosted by apparently generous families in the Netherlands, hundreds of Ukrainian refugees face being kicked out during the summer as hosts don’t want to leave them alone in their homes while on holiday. (ANP News Agency)

101-yo Frmr Nazi Camp Guard Sentenced to 5yrs Prison

101-year-old former concentration camp guard Josef Scheutz - the oldest person to face trial for Nazi war crimes – has been sentenced in Germany to 5 years in prison, for being an accessory to the murder of 3,518 WW2 prisoners.

Prosecutors successfully proved he “knowingly and willingly” participated in the atrocities at the Sachsenhausen camp that was liberated by Soviet soldiers.

After evading justice for almost 80 years, investigators found his name in Moscow’s state military records. Scheutz claimed he did “absolutely nothing” wrong, telling the court “I don’t know why I am here”.

Scheutz is unlikely to serve time behind bars because of his age.

A German court has sentenced Josef S. to five years in prison for complying to murder 3,500 prisoners 

A 101-year-old man, whom the German authorities believe to have been a guard at the Sachsenhausen Nazi concentration camp, will spend the next five years behind bars, a court in the town of Brandenburg an der Havel ruled on Tuesday. 

Josef S. was found guilty of aiding and abetting the murder of over 3,500 prisoners as well as attempted murder. In meting out the sentence, the judges accommodated the public prosecutor’s request.
