Vaccine Deadline: 40,000 National Guard Risk Dismissal

Up to 40,000 National Guard soldiers - 13% of the entire force - face being forced out of service for not having got the mandated vaccine yet - as Thursday's deadline to do so approaches.

14,000 have reportedly flatly refused to get jabbed, while between 20-30% of NG troops are still unvaccinated in six states. Seven governors have begged Def Sec Lloyd Austin for the mandate to be reconsidered.

The uptake drive has been complicated by a temporary loophole; those forces on active duty in states that donโ€™t demand vaccines cannot be forced to do so while remaining on duty.

BBC Staff Told There are More Than 150 Genders โ€“ report

Britain's state-broadcaster BBC hired โ€œtrans and nonbinary inclusionโ€ consultants to tell its staff that there are more than 150 genders and instruct them to police each otherโ€™s use of gender pronouns, the Telegraph reported Saturday.

The BBC reportedly emailed its radio producers and program editors urging them to attend several training sessions last year organized by Global Butterflies - a group that describes itself on LinkedIn as offering โ€œTrans & Non-binary Corporate Inclusion Training and Consultation.โ€

During the sessions, staff were reportedly told that โ€œpeople can self-identify themselves in over 150 ways and increasing!โ€

They were also shown examples of newly-invented gender pronouns such as โ€œxe, xem, xyrs,โ€ and told to include their own pronouns in their email signatures to be more...

Sri Lanka FUEL CRISIS: Schools Shut, Public Sector Told to Work from Home

Sri Lankan military were forced to hand out tokens to people queuing for what little fuel is left on Monday, with schools in the capital Colombo shut and public sector workers asked to work from home to ease consumption.

Some have waited in line for over 4 days, with no petrol left to even get home. Government stockpiles have dwindled to 9,000 tons of diesel and 6,000 tons of petrol with no new shipments, due to drained foreign currency reserves.

An IMF team is visiting until Thursday to discuss a $3bn bailout program.

โ€œMild Recessionโ€ Awaits UK as Cost-of-Living Takes Toll

Amidst the fastest price hike in 40 years, rocketing interest rates and energy price crises, Britain faces a โ€œsignificant riskโ€ of a mild recession according to a report released Monday by consultants KPMG.

The report expects economic growth to hit 3.2% this year before contracting to just 0.7% next year, with Bank of England interest rates - already at a 13-year high - to hit 1.75% in 2022.

Wages are failing to keep up with inflation too meaning the rot may have already set in with lower spending; household incomes are forecast to drop 0.8% in real terms this year before another drop of 0.5% next year.

G7 Reach Deal on Russian Energy Price Cap (Politico)

G7 leaders have agreed to look into placing price caps on Russian energy export shipping and insurance to limit Moscowโ€™s income after the International Energy Agency claimed Russiaโ€™s oil export revenues rose in May despite volume decreasing due to sanctions.

Italian PM Mario Draghi has pushed to include gas in the proposed cap, while French President Emmanuel Macron went further and proposed extending the price cap beyond Russian sources.

The group did state their intention to avoid sanctioning the supply of Russian agricultural products, and ensure existing measures donโ€™t interfere with delivery of humanitarian aid.

Russia to Face โ€˜Attacks & Sabotage Operationsโ€™ โ€“ Kiev

Russia should brace for โ€œattacks and sabotage operationsโ€ within its territory, Ukrainian military intelligence head Kirill Budanov told the Financial Times over the weekend.

He mentioned the murder of a local official in Kherson Region as an example of these attacks, which was treated as an act of terrorism by the cityโ€™s authorities.

โ€œPartisan activitiesโ€ have been emerging within the territories Russia seized since the start of its military operation in Ukraine in late February, Budanov said, pointing to two explosions in Kherson Region, which borders Crimea, Russia.
