SCOTUS Backs Coach Sacked For PRAYING After Games

The Supreme Court has sided with a football coach who sued the Washington state school district that fired him for praying by the field immediately after games, defending his right to engage in โ€œa brief, quiet, personal religious observanceโ€.

Bremerton School District had asked Joe Kennedy to pray alone away from students to not pressure them into joining him, suggesting it interfered with his โ€œjob responsibilitiesโ€.

Judge Neil Gorsuch explained the decision, claiming: โ€œthe Constitution and the best of our traditions counsel mutual respect and tolerance, not censorship and suppression.โ€

Turkey Explains Not Sanctioning Russia

Turkey does not follow the Western lead in sanctioning Russia because it is guided by pragmatic economic considerations and โ€œa policy of balance,โ€ the Turkish presidentโ€™s spokesman Ibrahim Kalin has said.

In an interview with Haberturk TV, Kalin said that Ankara is โ€œdependent on foreign sources for energy, we develop relations with Russia as we do with Iran,โ€ he explained, noting that Turkey also enjoys good relations with the US and other Western countries.

In Kalinโ€™s opinion, imposing sanctions on Moscow โ€œwill harm Turkey's economy more than Russiaโ€™s.โ€
