Cyber Attack SHUTS Iranian Steel Plant

Iran’s state-owned giant Khuzestan Steel was hit by one of the industry’s largest cyberattacks of recent times which forced it to shut down production until further notice.

CEO Amin Ebrahimi played down the attack claiming it had been “unsuccessful” and hoped the website and operations would back up and running by the end of Monday.

According to local news agency Jamaran, the attack failed because the factory was not operational at the time due to a power outage, but follows attacks on gas stations, trains, surveillance networks and state-run websites in the last year.

Western MSM Celebrates “Russian Default” - But Admits It’s “Symbolic”

After two Russian Eurobond coupon grace periods expired Sunday, Western media wasted no time in celebrating what it called Moscow’s state of default - but admitted it was a hollow statement nonetheless.

Bloomberg, the BBC and the Wall Street Journal jumped on the bandwagon trumpeting “a grim marker in the country’s rapid transformation into a financial and political outcast” despite admitting “Russia has the money and intent to pay”.

The Kremlin has slammed the claims of default as “illegal” as spox Dmitry Peskov pointed out a payment in foreign currency was made in May so “the fact funds were not delivered to recipients is not our problem”.

Prince Charles Faces Scrutiny Over ‘Bags of Multi-Million Qatari Cash’

Prince Charles could face an investigation by the UK’s Charity Commission regarding multi-million-pound donations made by the Qatari royal family to the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund, his grant-making entity, following a series of UK press revelations on Sunday.

The prince is believed to have received three separate payments of cash totaling over £2.5 million ($3.07 million) between the years 2011 and 2015, personally accepting the donations in cash from Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al Thani, who served as PM of Qatar from 2007 to 2013.

Amid calls for a full and transparent probe, the Charity Commission acknowledged it was “considering whether there's a role for the commission to investigate these matters,” a spokesman said.

France Wants Worldwide Cap on Oil Prices

French President Emmanuel Macron was pushing for worldwide oil price controls during the recent G7 summit, the Elysee has confirmed.

Paris is seeking a price cap “not only on Russian oil. It must take into account all market players,” reports Politico.

The move might put France directly at odds with producers like the US and its Middle-Eastern allies, including Saudi Arabia.

Sweden & Finland Set for Talks with Erdogan Ahead of NATO Summit

Turkish President Reccep Erdogan will meet the leaders of FInland and Sweden to discuss his opposition to their membership applications Tuesday, the day before the NATO summit in Madrid begins.

Erdogan’s chief foreign policy advisor remained firm on Ankara’s objections over the pair’s harboring of alleged Kurdish terrorists. “It is not possible for us to take a step back here”.

NATO Gen Sec Jens Stoltenberg had requested the countries talk ahead of the 2-day alliance summit and will attend the discussions.

Von Der Leyen Speaks Against ‘Paralyzing’ G20 - Despite Boycott Calls over Russia

It is better to have a frank face-to-face conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin than boycott the Group of Twenty summit this year, European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen has said.

“It is also important to tell him to his face what we think of him and what we think of this kind of action,” von der Leyen told the German broadcaster ZDF on Sunday.

However, she said there can be no “business as usual” with Russia after it launched a military campaign in Ukraine in late February.

US Robodog Sent to Help Ukraine

A modified version of Boston Dynamics’ robot dog Spot will be sent to Ukraine to help an American firm that has won multiple contracts in Ukraine to clear battlefields near Kiev after approval by the US army.

HALO Trust will use Spot with a robotic arm instead of a “head” to handle unexploded munitions and dispose of them but will still need to be controlled manually.

Ukrainian officials estimate around 300,000 square kilometers of land need to be de-mined, which could take up to a decade to clear.
