US Purchases โ€œAdvancedโ€ SAM Missiles for Ukraine (report)

The US has bought a Norwegian-developed โ€œadvanced medium-to-long range surface-to-air missile defense systemโ€ for Kiev, according to reports emerging Sunday and Monday.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had begged the Norwegian parliament for the NASAMS system in March, while Washington will also supply artillery ammunition and radars.

The latest weapons delivery comes as the G7 leaders convene to discuss Ukraine aid and sanctions on Moscow, and a few days after President Biden pledged another $700mn military aid package to Kiev.
