Germany Resorts to Coal in Effort to Wean Itself Off Gas
German will reopen closed-down coal power plants using emergency laws and offer $15bn in credit to gas suppliers to stock up for winter, Economy Minister Robert Habeck has announced.
Habeck says it is โpainful, but it is a sheer necessity. If we donโt do it, then we run the risk that the storage facilities will not be full enough at the end of the year towards the winter season. And then we are blackmailable on a political level.โ
Emergency gas plans would allow utility companies to pass on higher costs to consumers to dampen demand, or for the government to control energy and ration it to households.
Carbon Zero chance of this ending well for the people.

Ukraine Will โFight with Shovelsโ if Denied Western Arms โ FM Kuleba
Ukraine will continue fighting against Russia even if it has no weapons whatsoever, so the West should speed up its shipments of arms to Kiev or be responsible for the deaths of its troops, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said Sunday to German media.
โIf we donโt get weapons, fine. Then we will fight with shovels. But we will keep defending ourselves because this is a war for our existence,โ Kuleba was quoted as saying in an interview with the public broadcaster ARD.
Kuleba added that Russian artillery outgunned Ukraineโs in Donbass 15 to 1, echoing statements that several senior Ukrainian officials have made lately. Kiev cannot win with such an imbalance of power, the foreign minister said.

Russia Should Wait for US to โCome Crawling Backโ โ Former President
The US would perceive Russian attempts to negotiate a prolongation of the New START nuclear treaty as a sign of weakness, so no talks should take place unless Washington changes its behavior, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev argued Monday.
โLet them come or crawl and beg for it. And they should value it as an act of utmost generosity,โ he added. โOtherwise, this is how it looks: they toss only sleaze our way, and we go, there, have this nuclear deal, please.โ
Medvedev, who serves as deputy chair of the Russian National Security Council, argued that the US-Russian conflict had reached a โdead zoneโ point where talking even about arrangements that both parties find beneficial would be counterproductive.
