UK Must Be Ready to Defeat Russia - New Army Chief

The British Army’s new chief of General staff has insisted there is a “burning imperative” that his forces fulfil their “core purpose to protect the UK by being ready to fight and win wars on land… and defeat Russia in battle”.

General Patrick Sanders claimed, “we are the generation that must prepare to fight in Europe once again” in a “new era of insecurity”.

His comments came just a day after PM Boris Johnson claimed the UK needed to “steel itself for a long war” because Russian President Vladimir Putin is resorting to a “campaign of attrition”.

Sound like a country ready for peace?
