Turkey Should Veto NATO Expansion for Next 20 Years โ€” Retired General

Turkey should take full advantage of the historic opportunity provided by Finland and Sweden's bids to join NATO, retired Turkish Brigadier General Naim Baburoglu said.

Thanks to its veto power, Turkey has now received a strategic card, which must be used to make sure than not only Helsinki and Stockholm, but all NATO members, designate the PKK as a terrorist organization, Baburoglu told a Turkish outlet.

โ€œWho has the most interest in Sweden and Finland being in NATO? It's the US because it wants to surround Russia from the northern Baltics. Thereforeโ€ฆ Turkey should discuss this matter with the US in the first place,โ€ he said.

Biden Spares Two Words for North Korean Leader

Asked by a reporter if he had a message for Kim Jong-un, President Biden succinctly replied โ€œHello. Periodโ€ on Sunday, his last day in South Korea before moving on to the Japanese leg of his Asian trip.

The not-quite-message followed Biden's acknowledgment that he would consider meeting with Kim so long as the DPRK head was โ€œsincereโ€ and โ€œseriousโ€ about discussing the winding down of Pyongyangโ€™s nuclear program.

The president insists he is โ€œnot concernedโ€ about the possibility of new North Korean nuclear tests, claiming the US is โ€œprepared for anything North Korea does.โ€
