French Open And Nike Join Russian Sports-Bashing

The French Open may have stopped short of Wimbledonโ€™s total ban on Russian and Belarusian players, but will muzzle their political views according to tournament director Amelie Mauresmo.

"They can perform in conditions of strict neutrality. If one of them makes a statement in the media in support of the Russian government, there will definitely be sanctions," Mauresmo said.

American sportswear brand Nike has also terminated their 17-year sponsorship of Spartak Moscow, because of the club's ban from European football, according to the Spartak website.

Politics and sportโ€ฆ oh you know the drill by now.
