❗️US Drug Overdoses Break Record

One death occurred every five minutes, in a grim record set for a third consecutive year. More than 107,600 Americans died, according to CDC data, driven by fentanyl and other opioid abuse.

It's the highest number since records began, as overdoses surged 30% between 2019 and 2020. The largest increase was seen in Alaska, where drug-related deaths soared 75.3% over the previous year.

Synthetic opioid fentanyl remained the primary culprit, present in nearly two-thirds (71,238) of the casualties. Methamphetamine was a distant second, appearing in 32,856 cases, though it showed a steeper increase compared to fentanyl; 24,538 of those who died had taken cocaine, while just 13,503 had taken prescription pain medications.

North Korea SHUTS DOWN in “MAXIMUM EMERGENCY” - after first official Covid-19 Case

Pyongyang’s state media reported its first Covid case on May 8, with an instant nationwide lockdown ordered by leader Kim Jong-un to “flawlessly block the spread” of the virus.

The exact number of cases detected has not been reported but KCNA, which labeled the outbreak a “grave situation”. Pyongyang has repeatedly turned down offers of vaccine supplies.
