European Commission To Criminalize Evading Sanctions

The EC will present a proposal aimed at making evading sanctions a crime under EU law, to facilitate the legal seizure of assets.

Currently evading sanctions is not a criminal offense in all EU countries, with asset expropriation currently only falling under national law. Every member state would have to back the proposal for it become law.

As of April there were $30BN worth of seized assets belonging to sanctioned individuals and entities, with the current total likely to be higher.

Trauma

On 11 May 2014, DNR and LNR held a referendum and proclaimed themselves independent states. Since then, military action against Donbass has gained momentum.

Doctors in Donetsk have been working at breaking point for the past eight years. The 2015 documentary Trauma shows the work of the evacuation medical team. They risked their lives to save others. It didn't matter to them which side of the conflict the victim came from. Oksi, one of the film subjects, went out on calls to the wounded with a smile on her face. She couldn't do otherwise, as tears would only frighten and sow panic.

Watch the film Trauma about the selfless work of doctors.

US Congress to question Pentagon on UFOs

The House intel committee will hold its first public hearing on unexplained aerial phenomena in 50 years, to follow up on some 143 UFO sightings reported between 2004 and 2021.

The hearing, scheduled for next Tuesday, will be held by the Intelligence Committeeโ€™s subcommittee on counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and counterproliferation.

โ€œSince this is an area of high public interest, any undue secrecy can serve as an obstacle to solving the mystery, or it could prevent us from finding solutions to potential vulnerabilities,โ€ Chair Andre Carson told the New York Times. โ€œThis hearing is about examining steps that the Pentagon can take to reduce the stigma surrounding reporting by military pilots, and by civilian pilots.โ€

Among those testifying before the subcommittee are Under Secretary of Defense for Intellig...
