On Monday morning, two Chinese coast guard vessels entered Japan’s territorial waters near the uninhabited Senkaku Islands, an East China Sea archipelago which is the subject of longstanding dispute between Beijing and Tokyo, NHK news reports.

The ships entered the waters about 20km off the island of Minami Kojima at around 7am and approached a Japanese fishing boat, the Japanese public broadcaster reported, citing Coast Guard officials.

G7 Vows to ‘Not Let Russia Win’

The G7 issued a joint statement Sunday blasting Russia’s ongoing military action in Ukraine and pledged further military and economic support for Kiev.

“We remain united in our resolve that President Putin must not win his war against Ukraine,” the joint statement read, adding the G7 nations owe support for Ukraine in “the memory of all those who fought for freedom in the Second World War.”

The G7 leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and US, along with President Zelensky, confirmed in the statement that $24bn has already been provided and pledged to Ukraine by the international community.
