The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said that it’s looking into 109 cases of severe hepatitis in young children, and cannot yet explain the outbreak. Firefighters extinguish flames after missile hits Odessa - State’s Emergency Service

Ukrainian firefighters managed to extinguish flames reportedly caused by missile attacks in Odessa on Saturday, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported.

According to the department, fire crews extinguished flames spread over an area of 900 square metres, and no one was injured as a result of the incident.

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Russian side "launched a missile attack on Odessa".

Russian Defence Ministry, in turn, announced on Saturday, that Ukrainian aircraft equipment was destroyed at military airfields in Odessa, near Artsiz in Odessa Oblast, and Voznesensk in Mykolaiv Oblast.

World risks ‘worst famine since WWII’ – German minister

The world is about to face an acute food crisis due to skyrocketing food prices, German Economic Cooperation and Development Minister Svenja Schulze told Bild newspaper on Saturday, warning about a looming famine not seen since World War II. The minister has named Covid-19 pandemic and Russia’s ongoing military operation in Ukraine as its causes.

“The situation is highly dramatic,” the minister told the German tabloid in a late Saturday interview, adding that, according to the UN World Food Program, “more than 300 million people” are already suffering from acute hunger and the UN has to “constantly revise” this data upwards.

The US on Sunday sanctioned three Russian TV networks, forbidding American companies from supplying them with equipment or advertising revenue. Dozens of banking executives and a defense company were also blacklisted.

The latest measures apply to Channel One, Russia-1 and NTV, all of which broadcast in Russian to a domestic audience. The sanctions forbid American companies from providing accounting and consulting services to these networks, and deprive them of advertising revenue from US firms.
