Europe’s cocaine market is expanding amid “unprecedented levels” of trafficking and “historically high availability,” EU agencies said in a report on Friday, warning that the continent is increasingly becoming a hub for production and trans-shipment of drugs around the world.

The growth in the European market is driven by high levels of production in South America and new production capabilities inside Europe, the joint report by Europol and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) said.

A total of 18 Chinese air force planes have entered the island’s air defense zone, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense says

Taiwan has accused the Chinese military of a mass air incursion into the island’s air defense zone. A fleet of 18 People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft, including two nuclear-capable H-6 planes entered the zone on Friday, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said.

The nuclear capable bombers were accompanied by a Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft, KJ-500 aerial warning and reconnaissance plane, as well as 12 J-11 and J-16 fighter jets.

Biden Names First Black & First Openly Gay Press Sec

Jen Psaki's "partner in truth" Karine Jean-Pierre will become the first-ever black person, and first Openly LBGTQ person, to serve as White House Press Sec when she takes over the role next Friday. 

Jean-Pierre, who had worked as deputy Press Sec since Biden came to power, and also worked in the WH during the Obama admin, hailed her appointment as a "historic" and "emotional". Before her, only one black woman had worked as deputy Press Sec. 

"Representation matters," said Psaki, adding that her successor is going to "show so many what is truly possible when you work hard and dream big.
