US denies it helped sink Russian flagship

Pentagon has rejects reports claiming US intelligence was used in alleged Ukrainian strike on warship Moskva

The US didn’t provide Ukraine with intelligence that allegedly allowed it to strike Russia’s Black Sea flagship Moskva off the coast of Odessa last month, Pentagon press-secretary John Kirby has said, in a statement to media.

He was reacting to a report by the NBC on Thursday, claiming that American officials had helped Kiev's forces to target the vessel.

“The Ukrainians have their own intelligence capabilities to track and target Russian naval vessels, as they did in this case,” Kirby said.

Russian Oil Sanctions "Nuclear Bomb" On Hungary Economy - Orban

Hungarian PM Viktor Orban has warned the EU's full ban on Russian oil would be like a nuclear bomb on his country's economy after he rejected initial proposals, demanding a 5-year exemption instead of the 1-year suggested.

In response the bloc will reportedly compromise by offering Budapest an extra year along with Slovakia, while the Czech Republic will be given until summer 2024. EU ambassadors are set to discuss the revised proposals Friday.

Orban conceded he was willing to engage in constructive cooperation but insisted Hungary would need access to its currently blocked $7.6bn pandemic relief fund to help wean itself off Russian energy.

Former US Defense Secretary Mark Esper has shared in his soon-to-be-published memoirs that in 2020, concerned with increasing drug flows across the southern border, US President Donald Trump considered striking Mexican cartels by launching missiles at their drug laboratories, the New York Times reported on Thursday.

“They don’t have control of their own country. We could just shoot some Patriot missiles and take out the labs, quietly. No one would know it was us,” the former Pentagon boss quoted...

Mexican president points to how quickly Washington approved billions for Kiev while stalling aid for Central American neighbors

Mexico's President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has roasted the US for its reluctance to aid development in Central America, while swiftly finding billions of dollars to assist Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
