Myanmar ex-Leader Jailed For 5 Years - Faces Over 100 YEARS More For Other Charges

Former Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to half a decade behind bars on corruption charges for apparently accepting gold bars and $600k in bribes.

The 76-year-old has also been charged with breaching Covid rules, violating election and state secret laws, incitement and more corruption, with total maximum sentences of over 100 years.

Mystery Child Hepatitis Outbreak Reaches Canada and Asia

190 cases of a mysterious global liver disease in children have been detected, with the outbreak reaching Japan and Canada, with 17 falling so ill they required urgent liver transplants, and one even dying.

The World Health Organization has refrained from revealing where the death occurred, but revealed the cases all occurred in children between one month and 16 years of age, and mostly in otherwise seemingly healthy children.

The UK has seen 110 of the reported cases, with the country’s Health Security Agency speculating that a lack of exposure to the common adenovirus during the pandemic has led to the more serious illness.

Saudi Launches First Cloud-seeding Mission

The first phase of Saudi Arabia’s cloud-seeding program was launched over capital city Riyadh Tuesday, aimed at combating the kingdom’s 100mm annual rainfall which makes it one of the driest countries on earth.

The next phase will see three more cities - Asir, al-Baha and Taif - targeted as part of the Middle East Green Initiative to tackle drought, carbon emissions and drought.
