Shots and drones from Ukraine reported near huge arms depot in Transnistria

The breakaway regionโ€™s interior ministry has said โ€œshots were fired from Ukraineโ€ in the direction of a huge arms depot, and two drones were sighted.

Officials said that no casualties had been reported as a result

A video shared by Transnistria press Wednesday shows alleged attackers firing RPGs at the MGB building in Tiraspol on April 25.

Vadim Krasnoselsky, the president of what is officially known as the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, claimed Tuesday that the latest spate of โ€œterrorist attacksโ€ in the region had been traced back to Ukraine.

Four EU buyers made gas payments in rubles โ€“ reports

Four European countries have already made gas payments to Russia using Moscowโ€™s new ruble-based mechanism, Bloomberg reported Wednesday citing a source close to Gazprom.

At least 10 countries have set up ruble accounts with Russiaโ€™s Gazprombank, through which payments for the Russian commodity will be made from now on, Bloomberg added.

Russiaโ€™s new policy has left many EU leaders puzzled, and several countries, including Poland and Bulgaria, openly refused โ€œto pay in rubles.โ€ As a result, Gazprom halted gas deliveries to the two countries on Wednesday.

The justice ministers of Denmark and Kosovo have signed a treaty, with Copenhagen renting 300 prison cells from Pristina

Denmark will be sending foreign nationals convicted in the country to serve their sentences in a Kosovan prison, the countriesโ€™ respective justice ministers agreed on Wednesday. Should both sides' parliaments give the accord the green light, the first inmates could be transferred to the Balkans as early as next year.

Danish Justice Minister Nick Haekkerup and his Kosovan colleague Albulena Haxhiu have signed off on a deal that reserves some 300 cells in a Kosovan prison for Danish mig...

Elon Musk Isnโ€™t a Threat to Societyโ€™s Health. All Billionaires Are
MintPress News (RSS)

SAN FRANCISCO โ€“ The most dangerous thing about Elon Musk buying Twitter outright for $44 billion is the rapidly spreading notion that his controlling an influential social media platform is dangerous. It is, but not for any of the reasons his critics assert.

The current furor is dangerously misguided for two reasons. First, it assumes that one billionaire owning Twitter is significantly more harmful than a bunch of them owning it. And second, it worries that Musk is committed to an anarchic version of free speech that will undermine the health of our societies.

This is the equivalent of staring resolutely at a single tree to avoid noticing the forest all around it. The fact...

Covid Cash SEIZED at UK Border - Over Third of Govt $59bn Bounce-Back Funds Lost

Suitcases stuffed with cash and multi-billion dollar corporate fraud; the UK governmentโ€™s much-trumpeted Covid relief scheme was riddled with corruption and has cost as much as $21bn, a new investigation claims.

Wednesdayโ€™s probe by the Times reveals today reveals how the $59bn Covid โ€œbounce-backโ€ scheme was abused by completely false turnover claims to fund gambling debts and smuggle cash out of the country.

Applicants simply filled in form declaring their companyโ€™s turnover, with most banks appearing to have made no attempt to verify the figures. In one case a business owner self-declared $250,000 turnover to qualify for a $62,000 loan despite only having $3.42 in his account.
