Kiev Tears Down People's Friendship Monument

Following orders by Kievโ€™s mayor Vitali Klitschko, the bronze landmark featuring the statue of two workers has been toppled.

The figures were a part of the larger People's Friendship Arch monument, which was completed in 1982, in celebration of the 1,500th anniversary of Kiev and the 60th of the USSR.

Once the statue is gone, the arch will be painted in the colors of Ukrainian flag, Klitschko said.
