Bezos Wastes Little Time Warning over Musk's Links to China

Jeff Bezos appeared to suggest Elon Musk is beholden to Beijing, asking on Twitter if China has gained some leverage with the Tesla CEO's takeover.

โ€œInteresting question. Did the Chinese government just gain a bit of leverage over the town square?โ€ he asked, citing a post by New York Times reporter Mike Forsythe outlining Muskโ€™s business dealings in China.

The Amazon founder quickly walked back the comment, however, saying the deal with Musk will โ€œprobably notโ€ give China sway over the platform, instead predicting โ€œcomplexity in China for Tesla, rather than censorship at Twitter.โ€

โ€œBut weโ€™ll see. Musk is extremely good at navigating this kind of complexity,โ€ he added.

Despite Bezosโ€™ warnings about Chinese government influence over Western tech firms, his own company faced similar allegations la...

US Turns to Papua New Guinea in Security Battle on Opposite Side of Planet

The US is seeking to expand security cooperation with the Pacific island nation, with Washington concerned of China's security pact with the nearby Solomon Islands.

A US delegation reportedly met the PNG Prime Minister and its defense chiefs last week, with further talks planned for the coming months - Washington calling it "mutual steps."

It comes after America flagged concerns over a possible Chinese base appearing on the Solomon Islands. China responded calling it fake news, adding it's even hypocritical considering the number of bases the US has across the globe.

China said previously the security agreement signed last week does not pose a risk to the United States. China has criticized Australia, which is less than 2,000km away and historically provided policing to the Solomo...

Hereโ€™s what Elon Musk needs to do with Twitter
RT World News (RSS)

Letโ€™s hope the self-proclaimed โ€˜free speech absolutistโ€™ lives up to the title

Elon Musk was successful in his bid to take over Twitter. The worldโ€™s richest man struck a deal with the companyโ€™s board of directors to acquire the platform in its entirety for a cool $44 billion.

Musk first expressed his intent to bring about change to the social media platform after asking his audience what they felt about Twitterโ€™s adherence to free speech principles. With the ongoing censorship of conservative viewpoints, and amid calls from the Biden administration to crack down on so-called โ€˜Russian disinformationโ€™, the consensus was that...
