‘Wikimedia Foundation’ Organization Could be Forced to Open Office in Russia

Russia’s digital watchdog, Roskomnadzor, has said the non-profit organization behind Russian Wikipedia is subject to the so-called “IT landing law” which requires firms to open subsidiaries in the country if they have over 500,000 users.

Under the law companies also have to register with Roskomnadzor and create a feedback form for users to submit complaints and objections to the business’ services.

Some IT giants - like Google and Apple - have already “landed,” according to the law.

Sri Lanka: Stock Exchange Halts Trading after Sinking 13%

The island nation's stock exchange has shut once again, as it continues to battle its worst economic crisis since independence in 1948.

Mass blackouts have stemmed from widespread fuel shortages, with food scarce too. The local currency has plunged since the turn of the year, meaning Sri Lanka can no longer afford to import essentials.
