Macron Accuses Le Pen of being “Russian Puppet” - Has French Presidential Race had its Russiagate moment?
Candidate Marine Le Pen has fallen about 20 points behind in the latest opinion polls ahead of Sunday’s final round of voting. In the one and only public TV debate, Emmanuel Macron accused her of being in Moscow’s pocket.
“You are not just talking about Russia, but your banker. It's hardly surprising that Russia took part in the campaign to destabilize me in 2017,” Macron claimed.
Le Pen urged against banning imports on Russian oil, claiming the consequences would be “cataclysmic” for French people, and claimed it would be “a huge risk for the West” to send arms to Kiev. She also said she would move to ban the Muslim headscarf during the live debate.
