Macron Widens Poll Gap in Presidential Scrap with Le Pen

French President Emmanuel Macron moved further ahead in the polls, averaging a score of almost 56% ahead of Sunday’s decisive run-off vote, but his PM has warned the “game was not done and dusted yet”.

Election rival Marine Le Pen claimed Macron is “aware of his sombre prospects of winning a second term, have turned to... blackmail by fear,” after FM Bruno Le Maire had claimed a vote for Le Pen would “hand France’s sovereignty to Vladimir Putin”.

First-round loser Jean Luc Melenchon told voters they would be making “a colossal mistake" by voting Le Pen. "I don’t tell you to vote for Macron, search inside your heads for what’s best, but don’t do this.”

The legal battle over a federal mask mandate is set to continue as the DOJ vows a new appeal

A notice of appeal was filed in a federal court in Tampa, Florida on Wednesday – soon after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) asked Justice officials to review the ruling which overturned Biden’s mask mandate on planes, trains and buses, arguing it was st...

Israel Shuts Temple Mount to Jews for End of Ramadan

After a series of violent clashes with Palestinian worshippers at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, police will close the holy site to Jewish worshippers till the end of Ramadan. Discussions on exactly when to begin the ban will take place Thursday.

PM Naftali Bennett has been accused by Knesset Member Itamar Ben-Gvir of handing, “A reward to the enemy... This bizarre decision will cost us blood. Surrendering to the enemy only begets terrorism.”

Bennett’s Yamina party countered that the Jewish access ban is a practice that’s been in place for over a decade.

The Assange Story

A court in London has authorised the extradition of Julian Assange to the United States. He faces 175 years in prison for 18 articles, including espionage. The editor-in-chief of Wikileaks, Hrafnsson, has already called it a death sentence. Previously, Assange's extradition was denied because of his depression and risk of suicide.

In 2006, he created the website WikiLeaks, where he posted classified information from anonymous sources. Authorities launched an investigation against him in 2010, when Assange released diplomatic correspondence and data regarding, for example, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

See the 2020 film ‘The Assange story’ about this, with an exclusive interview with his father.
