CNN Fake News? Jack Dorsey Claims Witnessing Network Falsifying Stories

Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has claimed “knowing” that CNN sells “false news,” recounting his experience during the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014, where he allegedly saw the press “try to create conflict and film it”.

Dorsey’s comment came as a footnote to a broader discussion of US media, which started after CNN’s Brian Stelter tweeted an article critical of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson for “selling doubt".

“And you all are selling hope?” Dorsey replied.

Sri Lanka Requests Huge IMF bailout

Sri Lanka’s FM Ali Sabry has requested a Rapid Financing Instrument to expedite an emergency route out of the island nation’s unprecedented financial crisis. (Reuters)

Sabry met IMF director Kristalina Georgieva in Washington Monday, following support from India backing IMF measures to support his country. New Delhi has already supplied over $500BN in lines of credit to Sri Lanka.

Colombo is now seeking a further $3 billion in the coming months.
