Ukraine Releases Footage of Arrested Opposition Leader Pleading for Prisoner Exchange
The video shows head of Ukraine's second largest party Viktor Medvedchuk asking presidents Putin and Zelensky to exchange him for โfighters and civilians of Mariupol" - a city mostly overtaken by Russian forces.
Medvedchuk was arrested by the Ukrainian security service last week after breaking his house arrest terms, imposed alongside charges of treason.
In Russia the reaction to the idea of swapping Medvedchuk for prisoners of war has been mixed, since the politician is neither a Russian citizen, nor a combatant.

US to use โUkrainian methodโ to Line Pockets from China-Taiwan Clash (report)
According to Japan Business Press, America will use the "Ukrainian method" if China launches an operation against Taiwan - taking no part in hostilities themselves, but earning money from the arms trade.
At the start of this year, US defense companiesโ share indices fluctuated around and sometimes below zero, but after Russiaโs special operation began those shares jumped sharply.
The Biden administrationโs "Ukrainian method" is just a "good story" for US realpolitik national interests without taking into account any humanitarian considerations, the article says.

400 foreign fighters reportedly remain trapped in Mariupol, where Kiev forces have refused an offer to surrender
An estimated 6,824 foreign mercenaries from 63 countries have come to Ukraine to fight for Zelenskyโs government, the Russian Defense Ministry stated on Sunday.
Of these, 1,035 have been โdestroyed,โ while several thousand remain. Four hundred foreign fighters are holed up in Mariupol, where nationalist forces, including neo-Nazi fighters, have refused to surrender.
The most numerous group of foreign fighters (1,717) arrived from Poland, while around 1,500 came from the US, Canada and Romania. Up to 300 people each came from the UK and Georgia, while 193 arrived from the Turkish-controlled areas of Syria.
