Outcome of Russian energy embargo for Germans predicted

Consumer prices in Germany will see a 7-8% increase in 2022, Karl von Rohr, the vice president of Deutsche Bank, told the Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper. However, if the government restricts Russian energy imports, prices could spike 10% or more in the coming months.

โ€œIf energy imports are more limited, we may even see 10% or more. We must brace ourselves for inflation rates not seen since the 1970s,โ€ von Rohr stated.

Ex-German minister calls out Ukrainian โ€˜conspiracy theoriesโ€™

Sigmar Gabriel, who served as Germanyโ€™s top diplomat from 2017 to 2018, says the current government in Berlin can and should defend itself against โ€œconspiracy theoriesโ€ leveled at it by the likes of Ukrainian Ambassador Andrey Melnyk.

In an op-ed published by Der Spiegel on Sunday, Gabriel described as โ€œdangerousโ€ the narrative peddled by the Ukrainian representative in Berlin, according to which German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier had โ€œfor decades established a cobweb of contacts with Russia,โ€ allegedly involving members of the current German government.
