Internationally banned MON-50 and MON-90 mines used by the Ukrainian forces were discovered in Mariupol, RTโ€™s Murad Gazdiev reported on Sunday. In 1999, Ukraine joined the 1997 Ottawa Convention, which bans use of such devices.

The mines were found inside the Ilyich steel mill. Russian troops and the Donbass forces expelled โ€œUkrainian nationalistsโ€ from the facility on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

In an interview with CNN, Zelensky said that for Ukraine โ€œthe battle for Donbass is very importantโ€ for a number of reasons, adding that it could affect โ€œthe course of the whole war.โ€ He stressed, however, that a diplomatic solution to the conflict is preferable.

Russian tycoon wants pension age lowered to 45

Russia needs a new pension reform that would lower the pension age to 45, businessman Oleg Deripaska, founder of aluminum giant Rusal and, for a time in the late 2000s, Russiaโ€™s richest man, told the news outlet Expert. He believes the assets of state-owned companies could be used to fund the plan.

โ€œIt is necessary to replenish the assets of the pension system in such a way that for people over 45 there is a source of pension payments that does not depend on the federal budget. And that's where state property comes in handy... We have these assets: Gazprom, Rosneft, all other state-owned companiesโ€ฆโ€ Deripaska suggested.

Outcome of Russian energy embargo for Germans predicted

Consumer prices in Germany will see a 7-8% increase in 2022, Karl von Rohr, the vice president of Deutsche Bank, told the Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper. However, if the government restricts Russian energy imports, prices could spike 10% or more in the coming months.

โ€œIf energy imports are more limited, we may even see 10% or more. We must brace ourselves for inflation rates not seen since the 1970s,โ€ von Rohr stated.
