US military using Ukraine conflict to prepare for future wars - AP
The US Army is training to fight in an environment heavily shaped by the Russian military campaign against Ukraine, the Associated Press (AP) reported on Saturday.
The purpose of this monthโs wargame in California is to โprepare for future fights against a major adversary such as Russia or China,โ the news agency said.
The role players in the exercise at the Fort Irwin National Training Center in the Mojave Desert speak Russian, AP reports. Around 4,500 soldiers from the 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division are pitted against the fictional โDevonianโ forces โ the exerciseโs apparent stand-in for the Russians โ who control the fictional town of Ujen.

Unrest broke out on Thursday in the city of Linkoping, where gangs of youths clashed with police, injuring three officers. At least two people were detained.

Support for Russia sanctions drops amid inflation โ poll
The number of Britons advocating harsh economic sanctions against Russia in response to its military campaign in Ukraine has dropped over the past month, as revealed by the latest opinion poll.
Conducted by Redfield and Wilton Strategies and commissioned by The Sunday Telegraph, the survey indicates that only 36% of the respondents polled this week are prepared to accept higher fuel prices in order to hurt Russia more โ 14 percentage points down from 50% in March.

Internationally banned MON-50 and MON-90 mines used by the Ukrainian forces were discovered in Mariupol, RTโs Murad Gazdiev reported on Sunday. In 1999, Ukraine joined the 1997 Ottawa Convention, which bans use of such devices.
The mines were found inside the Ilyich steel mill. Russian troops and the Donbass forces expelled โUkrainian nationalistsโ from the facility on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
